What is the interest rate offered on idle cash deposits with Access Wealth?

The interest rate offered by IBKR can go up to 4.29% (as of October 7, 2024). Details on how interest and yield are calculated can be found here

Is there a minimum balance requirement for cash accounts?

There is no minimum required; however, your cash account should have enough liquidity to cover trade fees. It is recommended to have at least $100 at all times. Note that to be eligible to earn interest, a minimum account balance of USD 10,000 is required, however the applicable interest rate will be below the headline offered rate for public markets AUM balances below USD100,000. Can I withdraw my cash at any time?

Yes, there are no lockups on your cash account. However, single withdrawal limit via the automated functionality is $100,000 per transaction. You can always run multiple transaction on the same day to withdraw all your capital. You can contact us if you need to withdraw more than this amount at one time.

What are the fees associated with cash accounts at Access Wealth?

Access does not charge any fees for holding a balance in the cash account or any other services powered by Interactive Brokers. IBKR provides one free withdrawal per month however all subsequent withdrawals are charged at USD10 each.

Is my cash deposit insured or protected in any way?

Yes, the cash accounts are insured by Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC - link).

How is the interest calculated and paid on my cash deposits?

Interest accrues daily. IBKR posts the interest payments on a monthly basis on the third business day of the following month.

Can I use my cash account to make investment transactions directly?

Yes you can use the cash account to buy public market assets.

For alternative investments, you will have to withdraw capital from your cash account to then fund the alternative investment vehicle through a wire transfer
